Koyaro vs TrainingPeaks, intervals.icu, and Whoop-class readiness

Three popular categories solve different jobs. Koyaro is a cycling-first, explainable whole-athlete OS — engine decides, AI explains, recommendations show their work — not a coach CRM, an analytics silo, or a readiness ritual.

The split

Same sport. Different products.

TrainingPeaks wins on coach CRM, marketplace, and device pipeline. That stack fits when a human coach owns the calendar. Self-coached racers who want load math plus an interrogable daily call without stitching tools need a different product.

intervals.icu wins on free analytics and an open API — a deep instrument panel data-literate riders love. Analytics is not coaching. Bolt-on AI on top of charts recreates silos; it does not own an explainable coach loop.

Whoop-class recovery wins the morning readiness ritual. Useful signal. Readiness is an input to the prescription, cited next to training load — not the whole product, and not the hero of the story.

Where Koyaro sits

Explainable whole-athlete OS

Koyaro separates a deterministic sports-science engine from a constrained AI layer that is native to the product — not bolted on. Fitness, fatigue, form, fueling targets, readiness, and race prep are computed — then explained. Every recommendation has to show its work with grounded metrics, not vibes. The engine decides; AI explains.

Training is not the only input. Fuel, recover, and race context sit in the same loop so the prescription reflects the athlete you are today — not a chart stack you stitch yourself, and not a readiness score dressed up as a coach.

intervals.icu is a friend and import path when you already live there — not a “cheaper PMC” we are trying to undercut. The science engine still recomputes from your files; we are not cloning their analytics depth.

Honest gaps

What we are not claiming

Cycling-first today. We lead with cycling depth. Run and swim can appear in the same coach desk (sport-aware loads + per-sport Form) — one product, not three apps. We do not claim a triathlon coach, Ironman positioning, or run/swim coaching parity with bike. Per-sport shells and fake TSS sums across sports are not how we sell the product.

Not “TrainingPeaks for €15.” We are not a coach CRM or marketplace clone at a discount. Not “Intervals + ChatGPT.” Not chat-first — fluency is not physiology; the LLM does not invent metrics. Chart-first or Whoop-as-hero is not the product.

We do not have a virtual world or a large community feed. Direct Garmin and Zwift sync are in progress — not available today. Live ingest paths now are Wahoo, intervals.icu, and .FIT upload. Strava is a secondary, limited-fidelity path — prefer Garmin / Wahoo / .FIT for primary history.

Compare on the product, not the brochure.
